Brown Spots

Unhappy with brown spots or uneven, dark pigmentation?

Brown spots are often seen on the face, chest, hands and legs due to photoaging. These sun induced pigmented lesions are more common in fair skin. Dr. O’Neill is a dermatologist with specialist training in assessing and identifying these lesions.

A special condition of excess facial pigmentation in women is called melasma. It is more common in skin of color. Melasma is most often seen on the cheeks, nose, forehead, chin or upper lip. Hormones and sunlight are triggers. Melasma often requires long term management.

What we can do

  • Step 1: A correct diagnosis is made by Dr. O’Neill, a board certified dermatologist who is trained to identify these problems.
  • Step 2: Sun avoidance and daily use of sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher
  • Step 3: An individualized treatment program is planned by Dr. O’Neill and her staff, at our Mississauga clinic. Treatments depend on the spot type and location, and may include IPL, lasers or chemical peels.
  • Step 4: A home maintenance program with topical therapy to provide continued management of unwanted brown spots.

Providing you with an individualized comprehensive skin health program.
